SRP New Player’s Guide

Welcome to Synergy RP by Serenity Valley Gaming! New to the server or FiveM in general? This guide will assist you in getting set up and started! If you haven’t yet, please join our Discord where you can find all our all our important documents in #important-stuff, including our Server Rules, keep up with all the latest news and get additional help!

GETTING STARTED

First off, if you have not done so, please take a moment to read over and familiarize yourself with the Server Rules.

You’ll need a PC copy of GTA V and FiveM. (We currently have free copies of the game available, so if you’d like one to play on our server, please DM a member of the FiveM staff)

Once both are installed, you’ll need to link your Steam and Rockstar Social Club. You do so by opening up the game and registering. This article can help if you’re having trouble with Steam. If you have a copy of the game not from Steam, you still need to register a Social Club account.

Next, you need to download TeamSpeak and the TokoVoip Plug-In. This Guide will show you how to set it up and troubleshoot any issues. Once set up, connect to ts.synergyrp.us, no password. You’ll be put in a waiting room that will auto connect you to the right channel once you log into the server.

Now you are all set to play! If you have the game from somewhere other than Steam, you may need to have Steam open and running in the background. Start up FiveM and search for our server “Synergy RP” or press F8 and type: connect fivem.synergyrp.us

CREATING YOUR CHARACTER

Once loaded in, use the arrow keys to select one of the default generic characters and hit enter, then click create. You can have 6 different characters in total. If you see the TokoVoip box telling you it’s offline, go into TeamSpeak, click Plugins>TokoVoip>Connect. It should connect in a few seconds and the box will disappear. Fill out the register box with your name, age (must be 18+), height, and gender and click Create.

Time to pick your character’s clothing! You can rotate your character with the A and D button, or right click to toggle between that and free camera mode. The Clothing tab has your Clothing and Hair options, Accessories has secondary clothing items and PED has additional Model and Face options. Please note, if you choose to use a ped model, they have limited clothing options while the default model has the full range. To change back to the default model, use male or female option 1.

The Hat, Glasses and Shirt button toggle removing those items so you can see your character without them. The Face, Torso and Legs button change your camera view to a close up of that section. When you are happy with your choices, hit ESC and save changes. You’ll be able to change your clothing and save outfits anytime at a clothing store.

Next is the face creator. In the Parents tab, you can mix a total of three faces for a unique look. Use the sliders to adjust the amount of the mix. The Face tab gives you eye color and further individual feature adjustment slides. You can also add Skin, Hair and Makeup options from their respective tabs. When you are happy with your choices, hit ESC and save changes. You’ll be able to change these options anytime at a barber shop. Congratulations! You’re now ready to explore the city!

VEHICLES AND WEAPONS

Los Santos is a big place, but you have a map at your disposal with most locations marked with icons. Open it with ESC and double click any point of the location you need directions to and you’ll get a route to follow right to it while in a vehicle. Not owning a vehicle yet, you can rent a free bicycle at any bike station, call a friend, ask on Twitter or a fellow citizen, call for a taxi (if there are active players working the job) or go one of the illegal routes and attempt to take a local’s car (Press F at the driver’s door to pull them out and get in).

You already have your Driver’s License, so when you have enough money saved, you can purchase a vehicle at the car dealership. If you’d like to be able to purchase a motorcycle, you’ll need to pass the exam and get a motorcycle license at the Driving School. All vehicles you own can be stored or found at any garage. If your car breaks down, you can take it to a mechanic or call for a tow by going into phone>favorites>mechanic> tag for tow. (this only works if there is an active mechanic) or use a toolkit from YouTool (it will only fix the engine, not body damage). You can also fully repair your car and customize it at Los Santos Customs (The spray can marker on the map). If your vehicle goes missing or is impounded by the police, check any impound lot. You can loan your vehicle to another player with the F2 menu and give them the keys if you purchase a keyring from any Green Store or YouTool. Keybinds for driving can be found on the overlay in the F2 menu.

You can purchase melee weapons at any AmmuNation or YouTool. If you wish to purchase guns, you’ll need to buy a firearms license from the Ammunation near the car dealership before they will sell you a gun. To aim your weapon, hold the right mouse button. To use your weapon or fist (no weapon equipped), click your left mouse button. Additional keybinds can be found on the overlay in the F2 menu.

LEGAL JOBS AND AND ACTIVITIES

Visit any Job Center and click on a job to start it. You can change to another job or go back to unemployed at any time. Most jobs can be worked together and go faster with others! While this section will give you a solid start, any future new jobs and activities will not be included to encourage you to figure out on your own or in RP. However you can keep an eye on the #changelog channel in our Discord for updates!

Fisherman, Refiner, Lumberjack, Miner, Butcher and Tailor- When accepting one of these, new map icons will appear on your map. Your first step is to head to the locker room to clock in. Next, grab a company vehicle from the yellow circle in the area. You can ride with a friend or each of you can get one. Each job works slightly differently, but consists of collection of goods, processing them into the final product, and delivering that product to get paid. You then return your vehicle to the red circle in the locker room area and clock out. The map icons will assist you in where you need to go. The process breakdown for the jobs are as follows:

Fisherman – Collect Fish- Deliver Fish

Refiner – Collect Crude Oil, Refine Crude Oil into Petroleum, Mix Petroleum into Gas, Deliver Gas.

LumberJack – Collect Logs, Cut Logs to Lumber, Deliver Lumber

Miner – Collect Boulders, Wash Boulders, Smelt Boulders, Sell Bronze, Iron, Gold Bars and Diamonds.

Butcher – Collect Live Chickens, Slaughter into Poultry, Package Poultry into Packaged Chicken and Deliver the Packaged Chicken.

Tailor – Collect Wool, Turn Wool into Fabric, Turn Fabric into Clothing and Deliver Clothing. (Note: Fabric and Clothing are made in the same building as the locker room)

Garbage Collection – Clock in at the marked location. Pull out a garbage truck from the yellow circle and follow the route marked on your GPS to the dumpster. Collect the bags from the dumpster and put them into the back of the truck. You’ll get paid after the last bag. Return your truck in the red circle in the locker room area and clock out to end missions. Clock in again to start a new round if you stop getting them.

Noober Eats – There is no place to clock in for this, you start as soon as you sign up after accepting the job from the job center. You will need your own vehicle for this. Follow the route on your GPS when you get a delivery notice. Depending on if the person is home or not, you’ll hand the package to them through the door or leave it at their doorstep. You’ll get paid upon each successful delivery. Switch to unemployed (or another job) at the job center when done to end missions. Sign up again to start a new round or if you stop getting them.

Taxi DriverAfter selecting the job from the job center, go to the taxi building marked on the map. There is no clock in, once you sign up for the job, just pull out your taxi from inside the building and start. This job is heavily based on roleplay and less about making money, but you can do NPC missions while you wait for Player Character (PC) fares. To turn on/off the missions, bring up the menu with M and select start/stop missions. Drive around and you will get notified of a fare on your GPS. Go to them and they will get in your taxi. Drive them to the destination which will then appear as another GPS route. Once there, they will get out and pay you. For PC fares, you can bring up your meter and additional options with Page Up. Either of you can mark the map for a GPS route. After you’ve taken them to their destination, you can charge them for the fare with the Bill option from the menu. They can then pay you by pulling up the invoice with F7.

Tip: You can /advert to tell the city you are open for business.

Mechanic – After selecting the job from the job center, go to any gray gear icon and Open Shop at the computer terminal. A blue gear icon will now appear on the map letting players know there is a mechanic on duty in that location. Side Note – Only the person that first opens the shop can own it. After that person closes it, that location is then available for other mechanics to open. This job is all roleplay based, you will rely on Player Character (PC) vehicle repairs and requests for tows for income. In order to do repairs, you’ll need to craft master repair kits that fully repair engine and body damage. In the garage area, you’ll see the crafting circle where you can craft them with purchased repair kits and repair tools from YouTool. You can also craft your own repair kits by gathering the needed materials from one of the three scrapyards in Sandy, Paleto or South Los Santos. (Collect scrap from the random red arrows in the yards). Once you have your kits, to repair a player’s vehicle, use the Repair Vehicle option from your menu (M) or drag a master repair kit to Use from your inventory. Once done, you may need to get in and out of the vehicle if the other player does not see the repair. You also have the option to clean the vehicle with Clean if you choose. Bill your customer with the Bill option and they can see and pay it with F7. Please be sure to close the shop from the computer terminal when you are finished as a mechanic or wish to work out of another location.

Mechanic – Towing – If you get a tow request, you can respond to the alert and spawn a truck from the computer terminal you used to open the shop. Follow the GPS to the vehicle needing a tow. Use the Flatbed option from the menu to load and unload the vehicle on the truck. A vehicle must be tagged for tow by the owner or police or you will not be able to load it. You can return the truck from the same place it spawned.

Tip: You can /advert to tell the city you are open for business.

Hunting – This is an activity you don’t need to sign up for. Go to the hunting grounds marked on the map (South of Paleto on the NW corner of the island). Pay the fee and you’ll get a rifle, knife and vehicle. Drive your vehicle near the +’s marked on the map. These are your targets, there are a variety of them. From a cougar (they can attack you and kill you) to a small rat. Shoot with the rifle. If you miss, they will run. Upon a kill, switch to your knife and collect leather and meat from the dead animal. The hunting grounds are huge, but if you venture too far away chasing a target, you’ll lose your vehicle, rifle and knife and will have to pay the fee at the marker to start again. Once you’ve killed all the targets (or wish to quit), go back to the marker and end hunting. You can start again right away by paying the fee or go sell your leather and meat to the place marked (look for the other wolf head marker on the SE side of the city).

Side note: Hunting can be dangerous, but that’s what makes it fun! Cougars are in the area that might not be your target. Be aware if you hear the roar, they are after you and to get ready to shoot! You can also sometimes aggravate locals that might be in the area and they will shoot at you, so be ready to defend yourself or run away.

ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

This guide will only briefly touch on some activities available as the enjoyment of being a criminal comes from finding things out through RP, run-ins with cops and using that knowledge and experience to better your skills! You can keep an eye on the #changelog channel in our Discord for updates!

Drug Making – You can make and sell drugs to locals or players.

Robberies – You can rob certain places if you have a weapon.

Black Market and Illegal Weapons –  Locations will rotate to a small set number of new places each server reset, but contain unique and powerful items to assist you in your criminal activities!

SKILLS

Your skill menu is located in the F2 menu. While doing an activity in that category, buying a gym membership or doing civ jobs, you’ll gain points in that skill. Once you reach a certain level in a skill, you’ll gain an extension in that skill or unlock new things to make.

Stamina – How long you can run.

Strength – How much you can carry in your inventory.

Diving – How long you can hold your breath underwater.

Mechanical – Parts/Upgrades you can make for vehicles

Engineering – Coming Soon

Drugs – Kinds of drugs you can make

Hacking – Coming Soon

HOUSING

You can rent a room at any of the 3 motels (Pink Cage, Bayside Lodge or Eastern Motel) marked on the map. You’ll pay your initial fee upon room rental and rent will be taken out at 12pm EST everyday whether you are in game or not so long as you remain checked in. Please note if you have a room and do not log in on that character for a week, you will be auto checked out to keep rooms available for active players. Your room features a safe to store items and a closet to save or change into previously saved outfits. (You can also save outfits at the wardrobe in any clothing store) Visitors (or thieves) can enter your room if you leave it unlocked, so be sure to lock it with U once inside or outside when you leave. Please note motel rooms are not soundproof. If you have a neighbor in the adjacent room or outside, they will hear you if you don’t set your voice to whisper. (Hit the ~ until it says whisper at the top left of your screen.) However, if you are both very close to the same wall or window, they will hear you even at whisper. You can check out and rent another room again at any time, just remember to clear your safe upon check out or the next person that rents the room will have access to it!

RP HELP

From new to experienced roleplayers, best practices are to stay in character at all times, keep things as immersive as possible and be a positive addition to the community! Here are some common terms you might hear from players in game and what they mean:

The Storm/Tsunami – Refers to server resets to help keep things running smoothly. Happens here at 4am/pm ET. You will see written warnings as the time draws closer in the chat box. You will be logged out if you haven’t done so by that time. They don’t take long though and you can log back in a few minutes or so afterward.

Headache – A term used when you are having connection issues, are lagging, things don’t look right, etc

Take a Nap – A term used when you or someone needs to log out and back in.

Scuffed – A term used when your character or vehicle is not working right. Logging out and back in will often fix this.

Pockets – Refers to your inventory. If you hear someone say, “My pockets are full” They mean their personal inventory is full and can’t hold anything else.

In my eyes – Refers to what the person is seeing that might be different from what you see. An example of this could be a mechanic has just fixed your car and might ask you how it looks in your eyes to make sure you see a fixed vehicle.

How to go afk properly – Stay in character. If you need to afk, be creative! You can use some thing simple like saying you need to meditate for a while and emote yoga or meditation. A little more involved example could be to pull out your phone and say, “I just lost first place in my Flappy bird game! This will take my full concentration to get back!” Walk away some and emote playing on your phone.

Terminology for helping with Keybinds/Actions– You can always use the keybind overlay in the F2 menu, but if you ask someone how to do a certain action or they ask you, don’t just say the name of the keybind/action. For example, if someone asks how to unlock a car, (U) a phrase you can use would be something like this: “YOU know, YOU can just click the button YOU have on your keychain.”

There are other terms people might use you may not be familiar with or understand right away, just be patient and RP it out best you can!

FAQS

Q. I’m injured and losing health, how do I stop it?

A. You need to get to a hospital and use the self check in or ask an EMT to treat you. If the injury is minor, you can use a First Aid Kit. Ask any EMT on duty and they will give you a few.

Q. I’ve been downed and EMS or Police are not responding. What can I do?

A. If they are on duty, they will make every attempt to get to you if you call for help. (EMS will treat you, Police can only take you to the hospital) As a final resort, you can have another player /carry you to the hospital for self check in. If no one is on duty and no one with you to carry you to the hospital, you can respawn after 5 min.

Q. I’ve been downed and I respawned or my timer ran out. I’m in front of a hospital and my inventory is empty!

A. This is intentional, as a game/life simulator. The only way to permanently kill yourself is your choice and through RP. As above, If there are EMS or Police on duty, they will make every attempt to get to you if you call for help. (EMS will treat you, Police can only take you to the hospital) As a final resort, any player can also /carry you to the hospital to the self check in.

Q. How do I play as an EMT or Police Officer?

A. These are whitelisted jobs, you must apply first, be interviewed, approved, then trained. Applications are on the Discord in the #important-stuff channel.

Q. How do I get in game support/general help or report a bug/exploit?

A. If you need non-emergency in game support or general help, you can ask someone in RP, look it up in this guide, or post in the #server-help channel in the Discord and the community or a Five M staff member will assist you as soon as possible. Any emergencies (such as a hacker), post in the #server-emergency channel in the Discord to get immediate attention from the staff. For bugs or exploits, use the Bug Report Form. While we try to be available as much as possible, please avoid direct messaging or tagging staff members in posts for this, we will answer your questions in the proper channels when we can.

Q. My clothing and/or uniforms appear all messed up!

A. To fix this, exit out of FiveM completely (not disconnect, exit or press F8 and type quit), open back up and relog in.

Q. Why do some car liveries look blurry?

A. There is a simple fix for this! Start Five M, press F8 , then type the following: str_MaxVehicleTextureRes 2048 (or 4096, but is not recommended to go higher than that) press Enter then restart Five M. If you experience any trouble afterward, simply set it back to default by repeating the process and typing 1042 instead of 2048. This will return it to the default setting.

Q. How do I clear my cache?

A. Right click your FiveM shortcut and open file location. Open FiveM Application Data/cache. (Or Username/AppData/Local/FiveM/FiveM Application Data/Cache) Delete everything but the game folder.

Q. Where can I make server suggestions for features and/or scripts?

A. The #community-feedback channel on the Discord

A. If you are sure this is not due to player error, please fill out an Item Recovery Form. An Admin will review your claim and assist you.

Q. How do I report a player?

A. If you feel someone has broken a server rule or you’re being harassed by another player, fill out a Player Report Form. Be sure to include the Permanent ID (PID) of the player (Hold the F6 button, the number will appear over their head). An admin will review your report and handle accordingly.

Q. How do I report an EMT or Police Officer for misconduct?

If you feel you were treated unprofessionally by an EMT or Police, fill out an Internal Affairs Report on the Discord in the #important-stuff channel. Dept heads will review the report and handle accordingly.

Q. I’ve been banned, what should I do?

A. You can either wait till it’s done (bans automatically fall off when the duration is over) or you may file an appeal here. An admin will get back to you as soon as they are able, explain the ban (if needed) and hear your side.

Q. Which buttons do what?

A. Take a look at the quick reference here:
